About the event
How can psychedelics impact one's creative process and journey as an artist? Join our panel of visual artists in a conversation about creativity, mystical experiences, transcendence, spirituality, and the role of psychedelics in the quest to heal, transform, and translate inspiration into art. We'll discuss psychedelics as creative tools, art as integration, the visual signatures of medicines, sacred geometry, AI, and more. Â This fascinating conversation, set amongst the backdrop of ArtUSCo's new Ethereal Reveries show, will feature artists Melanie Farris, Jag Wired, Alex Ruiz and will be moderated by the Center for Shamanic Education and Exchange's Mary Olivar. Don't miss the inspiring conversation and the chance to mix, mingle, and view the art in the Ethereal Reveries show! A special thanks to ArtUsCO for collaborating with us!
The Panelists:
Melanie Farris:
Melanie Farris creates her work in Buda, Texas, where her hand-painted canvases embody the cosmic interconnectedness and the sublime order of the universe. Through geometric symmetry and esoteric symbolism, she invites viewers on a contemplative journey into the soul's resonance with nature's patterns. Each piece is a hand-crafted portal, merging the depth of psychedelic experiences with the universal language of sacred geometry.
Alex Ruiz:
Austin-based artist Alex Ruiz is a firm believer in the transformative and healing power of creativity. Over the years, he has worked on multi-million-dollar  Marvel films and television productions such as the Simpsons and served clients across various creative industries. Currently, his work focuses on creating imagery and experiences within the healing, psychedelic, and personal development spaces. What truly drives him these days is the opportunity to share the magic of creation with those who feel they have lost touch with their creativity. He offers immersive art classes, workshops, and one-on-one creative coaching to help people reignite their passion for the arts.
Jag Wired:
Jag Wired is a visual artist based in San Antonio whose works are inspired by the healing and transformative nature of mushrooms and the connections that are formed within and outside the self.Â
Mary Olivar (Moderator):
As a board member for the Center for Shamanic Education and Exchange, Mary Olivar champions the continuation of Indigenous wisdom, practices, and cultures. As an advisor and mentor, her unique approach blends Conscious Capitalism principles with traditional wisdom, offering businesses a pathway to align their core missions with higher purposes, leading to harmonious relationships between purpose and success. Mary's expertise and insights have earned her invitations to speak at events such as SXSW, where she has shared her wisdom on conscious topics and advises on the intersection of psychedelics, health, MedTech, and culture. Mary's personal life reflects her values, rooted in nature and a deep connection to spiritual practices.
