About the event

Join the Houston psychedelic community and delve into conversation with combat veteran, advocate, and psychedelic consultant Ryan Roberts as he navigates his journey with psychedelics and underlines the importance of a trauma-informed approach to veteran psychedelic-assisted therapy care.

Many veterans grappling with trauma-related mental health conditions face a distressing lack of adequate healthcare resources. Ryan fervently believes these heroes are entitled to safe and equitable access to psychedelic care models that acknowledge and cater to the distinct nature of their traumatic experiences. His mission extends from personalized screening and assessment to specialized provider competencies, aiming to educate fellow veterans and PAT providers. While psychedelics hold the potential to catalyze transformational healing and exponential growth, they could also potentially unearth hidden traumas, exacerbating a veteran's physical and mental health conditions. However, proper training and preparation can prevent or adequately manage these effects.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Ryan Roberts is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran and former healthcare executive with a 14-year business and clinical operations history. After grappling with moral injury and multiple mild-traumatic brain injuries for nearly two decades, he discovered profound healing with ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT at The Mission Within. This transformative experience inspired him to redirect his traditional healthcare career towards supporting mission-aligned organizations in the veteran psychedelic medicine and assisted therapy space.

In addition to his work as a consultant, Ryan plays a significant role in psychedelic advocacy. He serves as a founding member of the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition, guided by Martin R. Steele, Lieutenant General, USMC (ret.). Composed of more than 40 high-profile organizations, they advocate for and advance legislation to enable safe and equitable access to these potentially life-saving therapies.
