About the event

Join us and Iris Muscarella, LPC-A, for an eye-opening presentation exploring how psychedelic therapy can serve as a transformative healing tool for People of Color, especially Black Americans, when approached with cultural humility, spiritual awareness, and deep respect.

Discover the unique intersections of race, trauma, and religion (Christianity, Islam, and ancestral spirituality) that shape the psychedelic experience. Discover why cultural sensitivity isn’t only important, but also essential for safe and effective healing.

Whether you’re a mental health professional, community leader, or curious learner, this talk will inspire you to rethink how we create inclusive, trauma-informed healing spaces that honor identity, faith, and history.

Let’s build bridges to healing rooted in dignity, community, and soul.

Presenter Iris Muscarella, LPC-A

Hello, and welcome— I’m glad you’re here. I'm Iris Muscarella, LPC-A, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (supervised by Lori Martin, LPC-S) and founder of Prism Path Wellness. I'm passionate about creating safe, affirming spaces for people from non-traditional and marginalized backgrounds. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, sex workers, people practicing ethical non-monogamy, kink/BDSM communities, and military veterans. As a Black and Puerto Rican woman with lived experience in poverty and systemic oppression, I offer culturally affirming, trauma-informed care grounded in real-world understanding.

Before becoming a therapist, I served as a military intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army. I’ve been out as LGBTQIA+ for 25+ years and active in kink, polyamory, and sex education for over two decades. I also offer a unique psychoeducational program for polycules (polyamorous relationship networks) based on systems and attachment theory, with a forthcoming book and workbook.

I hold a BA in Psychology with a minor in LGBTQ Studies and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. Soon, I’ll be offering Ketamine-Assisted Therapy as part of my practice.
